Well 2019 is only a few days away! I still can’t believe that this year is almost over. I thought that I would try and put together a somewhat festive outfit this week. I’m not usually one to go out on NYE as I can’t deal with the crowds of people and crazy expensive parties and cab rides home. I would much rather have a house party with friends or just stay home with my boyfriend. So this week’s outfit is pretty much a super casual look to throw on if you’re heading to a last minute NYE shindig at a friend’s place, or even if you’re just chilling at home and watching the countdown on TV.

Really, the only “festive” part of this entire outfit is the velvet pants LOL. Velvet is such a fancy and luxe fabric, and because it’s heavier, it’s perfect for this time of year. I think velvet is perfect for the holidays, and I think that this gold colour is even better for a NYE party since it’s more glitzy. Since we’re keeping it casual this year, what better way to pair these fancy pants with the complete opposite – a grunge-y vintage Harley tee. I have tons of vintage Harley shirts that I wear basically all the time (and even to sleep in!), so as you can see they’re super versatile, taking you from your bed to a party. I love the contrast of the tee with the pants because it keeps the look from being too over-the-top. And because it’s freaking cold in Toronto, even if you’re indoors, a sweater is always a must. I threw on this cozy long white cardigan, but you can of course opt out of this if it’s warmer where you are, or as soon as you start heating up after a few drinks.

If you’re hosting your own party at home this NYE, you’ll definitely need some good tunes to keep the good vibes going. May I recommend Petit Biscuit’s album Presence. This album came out late last year and was even one of my favourite albums from 2017, but that doesn’t mean I’m over it quite yet. Sometimes at a party you just want good music to dance to, and for that I love the song Beam off of this album. It has no lyrics so is entirely instrumental, but it’s such a catchy song that’s sure to make everyone get up on their feet and dance into the New Year.

Let me know what your plans are for this NYE! Thank you to everyone for their support over the last year, and I wish all of you a wonderful 2019!
