Since 2018 is coming to an end, I thought it would be the perfect time to look back on some of my favourite fashion trends from this past year. This year I found myself trying new things and having so much fun with fashion, but still staying true to my own personal style. I’ve also included some of my favourite finds for each trend below so you can shop it as well!
Puff Sleeves
It’s safe to say that I developed an unhealthy obsession with puff sleeves this year. Mostly worn in the spring and summer, I even transitioned my puff sleeve obsession over into balloon sleeves this fall as I’m sure you guys have seen over my last few blog posts. Puff sleeves are so fun and feminine, and perfect for someone like me who has broad shoulders because it helps disguise them! I’m already dreaming of Spring and Summer 2019 so I can wear all my cute puff sleeve blouses again.

Platform Shoes
Platform shoes have always been a staple for me. I love wearing my black platform booties when going to concerts because they add height yet are super comfortable, and I also love wearing more fun platforms to spice up an outfit. Platforms are also great if you have a pair of really long pants and need the extra height for your pants to drape over and not touch the ground. Wearing platforms with extra long pants instantly adds height and makes your legs seem miles long. This year, especially this Fall, I’ve seen so many platform booties everywhere. Definitely get yourself a pair, they’re durable and fun!

Plaid Pants
Ever since late summer and of course into the fall, I’ve been loving plaid pants. In fact, I’m still obsessed with them and may have even added a few more pairs into my wardrobe. Plaid is a classic pattern, but having patterned pants instantly makes your look more interesting! I love skinny plaid pants, wide leg plaid pants, kick-flare plaid pants, you name it. You can pair them with a simple top or sweater, or have pair it with a fun graphic tee if you’re more daring. Honestly, plaid goes with so much, and because there are plaid pants everywhere atm, you’ll have no trouble finding a pair that you love.

Browns/Tans/Camels
My colour palette this fall was all comprised of rich neutrals including brown, beiege, tan and camel tones. Brown was such a huge colour this past season and I can’t believe I hardly ever wore any prior to. It’s definitely been my new go-to colour and I love that it looks so luxe.

Floral Maxi Dresses
I guess not so much a trend, but more so a staple for me especially in the summer months are floral maxi dresses. I absolutely adore these because they’re so bohemian and flowy, super comfortable yet so stylish. You can throw on a pretty floral maxi dress and head out the door, literally effortless. You don’t have to worry about the wind blowing up your skirt and you can sit cross-legged on the ground with flashing anyone. I also love to transition my summer maxis into the colder months by layering them. Either with a turtleneck underneath or with a long, chunky cardigan or jacket on top. Floral maxis will forever be a staple in my wardrobe. (BTW Reformation is having a HUGE end of year sale right now and there are so many cute floral dresses on sale!)
