I know it’s summer and it’s hot, but who else is just OVER short shorts? Not gonna lie, I definitely had my fair share of high waisted denim short shorts over the years, cutting them so short that my butt would almost be hanging out the back. And maybe it’s just that I’m getting older, but those barely there shorts are a thing of my past now. I actually donated almost all of my denim shorts because they were just too short. After giving them all away, I realized that I needed a new pair of go-to denim shorts that I could just throw on in the summer. And I found these Levi’s 501 slouch bermuda shorts! I’ve been seeing longer, bermuda length denim shorts a lot this summer, and at first I wasn’t too sure about it, but as soon as I tried these Levi’s on, I was sold. The fit is perfect. High waisted, slim fitting through the thighs, a bit of distressing, and the perfect light wash that goes with practically everything in my closet. Since these shorts are definitely a more “boyish” style, I love pairing them with feminine tops and a more dainty shoe to balance it out. So that’s exactly how I styled them. The white blouse from Verge Girl is super cute and trendy with the sweetheart/bustier neckline and voluminous sleeves, and the dainty white strappy sandals are also everywhere this summer. They help elongate the legs which are much needed with a pair of shorts like this. Of course I finished off the look with my current favourite little pink 90s mini bag. And if your style is more on the tomboy side, I think these shorts would also look so cute with an oversized graphic tee and chunky sneakers.
So a few weeks ago I featured Clairo’s new song “Bags” and promised I would feature another one of her songs in collab with another band that I’ve recently been obsessed with. And that’s “Are You Bored Yet?” by Wallows feat. Clairo. Like I mentioned before, if you haven’t heard of Clairo yet, get on it cause big things are on the way for her. I’ve had this song on my summer playlist and it’s definitely been on heavy rotation. And this track just shows how versatile Clairo is- her signature musical style is very dreamy and lo-fi, but as seen on her tracks with SG Lewis, she fits the electronic scene so well and with this song, the indie-rock/alternative scene so well too! The girl has a voice for it all. Definitely give the track a listen below. And don’t forget that her debut album also just came out this past Friday, so you know I’ll probably be featuring more of her songs on here in the coming weeks 🙂
