It may be a new year, but I’m still obsessed with plaid pants! If you saw my Favourite Trends of 2018 post, then you know how much I fell in love with these patterned pants in the Fall. Well, clearly, I’m still not over it.

In recent days, I’ve found myself reaching for a pair of fun plaid pants and a comfy oversized sweater, rather than reaching for my usual mom jeans. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my mom jeans, but I hate the feeling of putting on stiff jeans on those cold Winter mornings. Pants on the other hand are just so much more comfortable. They’re warm and cozy, and you don’t have to worry about the stiffness. And when they’re fun and patterned, you can stay comfy and still look fashionable at the same time.

This particular pair of pants from Aritzia are my new favourite. If you haven’t checked out Aritzia’s Jallade pants, you’ve been missing out! They are seriously the most flattering pair of pants. High-waisted, the perfect amount of roominess through the thigh, and tapered at the ankle, they look good on every body shape. Aritzia makes this pant in a variety of different colours, patterns, and materials, but this pair that I’m wearing is made from Italian wool so it’s super soft and warm, perfect for the cold months. The quality of Aritzia is amazing, so you know these pants will last years and years. They’re also the perfect pair of work pants! You can definitely pair these with a white shirt for work, and then swap it out for a cozy sweater for the weekend like I’ve done here. I paired this with a camel knit sweater, because what else is new. My obsession with camel colours has continued into the new year as well! To finish off the look, I paired the whole outfit with my go-to pair of cream coloured booties. I wanted to keep the entire look within the soft colour scheme, and these booties really tie it all together.

So with the new year comes new year’s resolutions. I’m not usually one to make any, I just try to live each day as I go and make the most of it. But one thing that I try to practice more and more of each year, each month, each week, is to be more present. What has always helped me tremendously with this is my yoga practice and meditations. I always have music in the background when I do yoga, and today I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you one of my go-to yoga songs. And that’s Bloodflood by Alt-J. I know this is an old song, but to this day it’s still one of my favourites by Alt-J. This song is just so incredibly calming for me that I’ve even incorporated my breathing techniques during practice to coincide with the lyrics when he goes “breathe in, exhale”. Seriously, there’s nothing more invigorating. The song is about those insane dreadful moments, but in the most relaxing way as if to combat the next horrible thing that might just pop up at any moment. So, if you’re like me and are looking to practice more yoga and meditation this year and need some good music in the background, definitely add Alt-J’s Bloodflood to your playlist.

And if you have any other New Years Resolutions, let me know in the comments below!

  1. Thanks for providing more info about this outfit. These pants sound really great! 😍 I haven’t heard of Alt-J before (I’m not a big fan of music 😅) but I’m very interested in this song
