you’ve got my back against the wall

Another week of winter weather, another somewhat winter appropriate outfit.  This is pretty much what I wear when it’s too cold and windy outside to be wearing anything else besides a jacket, sweater, and jeans.

One thing I always struggle with is finding a jacket that looks just as good buttoned/zipped-up as it does when it’s not buttoned/zipped. And it’s pretty much a requirement to have your outerwear done up when you live in Canada and need to brave the winter winds on the daily. That’s why I love this jacket – it’s super stylish (you’ve probably seen everyone wearing it this season!), looks good when unzipped or zipped, and it actually keeps you warm since it’s fur-lined on the inside. Underneath, I decided to wear this distressed cropped sweater from Unif. This is actually one of the oldest sweaters in my closet. I go back to it year after year cause it’s just SO stylish and looks good with high waisted anything. On the other hand, the jeans I’m wearing are a newer addition to my wardrobe. They’ve got that kick-flare style which is very trendy right now. If you love the look of flares but don’t think you can rock them because of how dramatic they are, definitely try kick flares! They give you the same look but the flare is much more subtle and suits pretty much every body type. To pull this look together, I added my cherry red Doc Marten combat boots, this all black YSL bag and round Raybans that instantly make any outfit a bit more badass.

Since this look is definitely edgier, I decided to feature a song this week that has a similar edgy kinda vibe. I’m sure most of you already know of Cage the Elephant, and this week’s song is what the title says – Back Against the Wall! This is definitely one of my favourite songs by Cage the Elephant. Every time I listen to it, it just makes me feel so badass and on top of the world (contrary to what this song is all about haha). Funny how music can make you feel one thing when it actually means something else. Take a listen to the song below, and leave me suggestions of what songs make YOU feel on top of the world!
