from where we are, we’re never gonna come back

Decided to prance around the beach on a super chilly and windy day in a little floral mini dress, boots, and oversized cardigan. Sounds like a typical weekend for me. I’m surprised I haven’t worn one of these floral vintage dresses on the blog yet as they’re a longstanding staple in my wardrobe. I get most of mine while thrifting. In fact, my first ever thrift find was a green and black grunge-y 90s floral mini dress which I still have today, and I am continually on the lookout for these kinds of dresses every time I thrift. They’re great to wear on their own in the summer, with sandals or Doc Martens, or even tall boots and a chunky cardigan like I’ve done here for the winter. And if you can’t tell by now, I love versatile items that I can wear year-round, and these vintage dresses are just that.

The song this week is one I’ve been obsessed with and had on repeat for the last few weeks and it’s No Exit by husband and wife indie-pop duo, Tennis.  This song gives me serious nostalgia for some reason. Perhaps because it kind of reminds me of No Doubt during their later years. If you’re into the contrast of infectious, dance-y dream-pop cut with seriously dark, sad lyrics, definitely give this song a spin. I admit, I’m usually into upbeat music that gives me that carefree, hair down, dance till dawn, summer road trip type of vibe (I’ve featured some songs like that such as this one). No Exit delivers on that same vibe, beat and tempo wise, but a careful listen to the lyrics actually reveals quite the opposite. Almost depressing, even. I guess that’s why I’m so intrigued by this song. Have a listen and let me know what you think in the comments. Or if you have any suggestions of music I should check out, let me know below as well!
