wild winter, warm coffee

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe New Years! I spent mine at home with some yummy food, drinks, and great company. It’s been ridiculously cold outside in Toronto the last two weeks, dipping almost as low as -30 degrees Celsius, making me not even want to step outside the house. Hence the stay-at-home NYE, and also this super cozy but cute outfit this week.

To up the coziness factor, I decided to create a little nook inside the home by throwing a bunch of huge, fluffy pillows by the window. The perfect place to hang out comfortably inside where it’s nice and warm with a hot coffee in hand, while enjoying the beautiful view of winter white outside. Since I was just hanging around the home, I wanted to be super comfortable, and what’s more comfortable than leggings and an oversized sweater?! These leggings aren’t your typical plain, black leggings though. They’re actually made from a super thick, sweater-like material, so they’re extra warm, and the colours and pattern make them really fun and perfect for lazy days. The paisley pattern on them also matched the paisley pillows I had set out (not intentional, just thought I’d point it out haha). The sweater I paired them with is also just as cozy and super soft! I could literally sleep in it all winter long.

For the first song of the New Year, I am featuring the song Coffee, one of my favourites by the electronic-pop duo, Sylvan Esso. This song is just so chill, yet still so catchy, and perfect year-round.  Coffee comes off of Sylvan Esso’s self-titled, debut album which was released in 2014. Their entire debut album is amazing and these guys are just a pleasure to witness live. They happened to be my favourite discovery in 2015, in which I also had the chance to see them play at Wayhome Music Festival that same year. If you like what you hear, Sylvan Esso will also be touring this year, making a stop at the Danforth Music Hall this summer in Toronto (you know where to catch me!), and I’m pretty sure they’ll also be heavy on the festival circuit this summer as well.
